TruckClaws Recovery Kit Review - Dodge Ram Stuck in Sand
That’s awesome I know exactly where you were at. We ride our snow machines there too
Oh how funny! We love Willow trails!! No place like it.
I wish they offered a propane heater as an option!
Do you recommend just gluing the tub in and no screws?
Thank you! I have to take the tub out to replace water damaged subfloor! You walked us through the steps and gave tips on what to do!
You are so welcome! Glad to be of help. Happy Travels!
8020 was too expensive but their battery pack wasn't? Doesn't make sense.
Well, it made the most sense to us when we chose where to invest our dollars.
Do you like the location of the battery on the bench? Did you keep it there? Anywhere else you’d prefer it go? Thanks
That's a great question. We did end up relocating it into our cabinet setup that you can see at :18 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/AEy-C6OV6Z4/v-deo.htmlsi=TgD2PPwVZb6aeoSh&t=18
That's a great product you have there.
We do love it and our dog especially does.
That is replace not repai
But the useful comparison isn’t project M vs. 5th wheel…..
Sweet build!
Thanks!
Nicely done!
Thanks! We had a good base to work with... 🙂
I have never tried that. It looks like fun!
It is! But next time we might get the e bikes instead!
You didn’t even show the most important part. How to reconnect the drain pipe underneath.
That's because every RV type has different plumbing. Consult your owners manual for best results. Good luck!
I have the same truck as you does your Project M flex up and down quite a bit in the cabover area when driving from time to time?
Not sure what you mean @lightsout505, we have not noticed any signs of flexing.
Thank you for not inviting us along on this trip😇. Looks like a good work out though!
It was! Come with us next time!
Thanks for sharing this video... Im about to tackle this same project on my camper
Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.
At time o:42 you have a device on the dash... is that for your Sirius Radio? If so, did it require an adapter for your truck radio?
How observant! Yes it is, and we got the adaptor from XM/Sirius long ago.
Looks nice and simple to use!
It is! We are really enjoying this alternative camping setup. Thanks for checking it out.
useless video
Great video, very helpful. I'd not have used OSB board though, the first leak will soften that right up which will cause more cracks with the softened support. Would also attract bugs (when wet). I suggest some high density plywood instead or maybe XPS board. Someone suggested a rubber mat over it, but I'd still prefer no-osb near water.
Great tip! Really good to know, thanks!
Is the weboost worth it?
Thanks for asking! If you have a signal, it makes it better. It won't help if you have no signal.
Excellent video.
Thank you very much!
Great video. Thank you so much.
You're very welcome!
What an awesome video! It made me feel like I was actually there. Sweet!😜
lol you WERE there silly! 😂
Asombroso, y lo fácil de hacer , gracias
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
Love the content and the tipping point to subscribing was your take on EM.
I’m gonna do the same for cabinets. 80/20 is nice, but the costs is too high.
First of all… thanks for dropping this video. It is extremely informative. You two are AWESOME!!! I’m thinking of purchasing a Project-M for my Chevy Silverado 1500 but I have two questions. While watching these videos, I’ve noticed that all of the vehicles are 4x4. My question is… is a 4x4 mandatory for this item? Also, did you have to add new springs/shocks or add a lift to your truck before adding the topper? Any information anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
4WD is not mandatory, that would only depend upon where you want to travel and under what conditions. The majority of 4WC and Project M customers are overlanding or love getting out off the beaten path where four wheel drive may be necessary. But no, it's not a requirement. We did not have to add any additional suspension support, because we already had AirLift airbags on our truck. They were very useful for the full weight of our fifth wheel. The Project M itself is very lightweight! The stock shell is only 420± lbs. For this, airbags should not be necessary depending on the payload capacity of your truck. If you plan to add considerable weight like we did with our build-out, airbags are something to consider and very easy to install. See our finished build at liveworkdream.com/2023/11/08/diy-truck-camper-build/
And for details about the airbags installation: liveworkdream.com/2016/01/06/airlift-5000-air-bags-review/
@@liveworkdream thank you so much for the helpful information… I copy all. I will look into the Airlift Airbags before going to the 4 Wheel Camper website to see which topper or slide-in suits me best. Thanks again for your input. You two have fun but please be safe out there. I look forward to viewing more of your content. Thanks again 🫡
I was wondering the other day if a bed rug would keep the dust out , thanks for the video
You bet! It does help a lot. Thanks for watching.
If you build these project M’s out, why not just buy a slide in?
Great question! Well, we love our built-out M for many reasons. For starters, we get to leave our tailgate on the truck. This allows us to keep our truck as a truck, and not just a recreational vehicle sitting in our driveway gathering dust (or in our case, snow, all winter long). Also, the M is super lightweight, and you can go even more places that the ordinary slide in cannot. Also, we designed it how we wanted, not some manufacturer. Then of course, there's the price. You can't get a high-quality pre-owned slide in for the price of a new M. Finally, the M is a terrific option for folks who have light duty trucks like Tacomas. As much as we love FWC's slide in models, and might just end up with one someday, right now, the M is perfect for our camping and traveling needs. Thanks for asking!
Price would be my reason.
You can utilize the entire truck bed as a truck while keeping the topper on the truck!
Thanks for sharing. I’m enjoying your videos! Quick question about dust getting in. I’ve read that the project M has an issue letting dust into the bed of the truck. Has this been the case for you guys? If not have yo done anything to keep dust out? Thanks again.
We've had no issues with dust, thanks to the Bedrug and tailgate seal we installed. It also keeps the floor comfortable and insulated. Jim is producing our next video about the Bedrug install right now. Stay tuned...
The only thing I don't like about the 4wheel campers are those mandatory windows on the sides. That takes away so much usable building space.
Do you mean the windows on the vinyl pop-up? If so, you can't build there. But if you mean the ones down below, the Project M only comes with one mandatory safety window (required by law). The other window is optional.
@@liveworkdream required by law where? Other companies build a similar style camper and don't have that window. And yes I was talking about the one down below in the area you can build.
Pretty sure that's what we were told about the window,@@silvermonk13. Even if it's not a law, it's still a good safety feature to have IMO.
You did great! Thanks for the ideas
Have you heard of anyone putting fly rod carriers on the M?
@@patrickakers5722 I just mounted one rod case on the side as you can see in the pic with the yellow RotopaX. But yes, I have seen full length rod/reel cases mounted on the top, or to the side rails.
Nice rig. I really like the added cabinetry
Thanks! It was fun to build too.
Looks GREAT! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, more details to come...
Had a 4wc Grandby at one time sold it wish I wouldn’t of 😢, waiting for march and the expo to see which one we buy 🫰 A couple we are looking at Project M Topo Topper Alu-Cab Tune M1
Ohhh those Grandby's are sweeeet! Keep looking good pre-owned ones are out there.
@@liveworkdream mine was 2000’s for 3k they are alit harder to find for that price these days 🤦♂️🤣
Very cool camper
Thank you! We love it!
Gracias por El mensaje bendesidos Sean en la gracia de Dios. Amen.
Who designed and built your interior?
We did! Thanks for asking.
@@liveworkdream Did you post a video on your interior? I would love to see that. BTW. My wife and I just got back a couple weeks ago from our 10,600ish mile trip to Alaska and back in our 1999 Chinook Concourse. I hope you have as great a trip as we did.
Thanks for asking@@stanw909 ! That video is almost finished. Subscribe to be notified when it goes live. So glad you had a great time in Alaska!! Love that rig of yours, what a cool one. Happy travels!
How did that Project M affect your gas mileage on your Ram 2500?
Not much. Even after our installation we've tracked MPG anywhere from 22 to 29 depending on driving conditions.
That’s why we love FWC!!
FYI. The wrench in the drain to loosen only work with regular house tub fixtures where the drain is threaded into a metal pipe. Any RV or mobile home have connections are equivalent to sink fixtures and this trick does not work on them. They will break every time. You must get hold of the collar to loosen. Hope that helps someone. I found out the hard way also. Appreciate the video. Thank you.
We are going to look at something similar today. I’m wondering how insect proof they are, we are in the Southeastern U.S.
@mcoop571 if you outfit it with a mosquito net for the entrance, and have something like a Thermacell on board, you'll be fine. Some folks report that no-see-ums can get through the factory screens but that hasn't happened to us. Good luck!
If you get a chance, would you do a walk through of your project m? Thanks and enjoy you trip.
Coming soon! Promise!
Thank you
what Four Wheel Campers showroom did you visit?
the FwC one in SoCal as well as NorCal
Happy Campers! Thanks for sharing!
Drove through about a month ago. There's a cool little portion of the old road falling into the river a little North of there. Nice spot. We camped on the beach at 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Peaceful as can be. We love Canada and Canadians. Amazing country.
Wow that sounds like a great trip! One of our favorite areas too.
